Andrew Thomas is a boardroom counsellor and senior adviser with over 30 years’ experience supporting supervisory and management boards in complex, high-stakes situations. He works at the intersection of restructuring, corporate governance, finance and leadership, helping organisations navigate financial distress, strategic change and multi-stakeholder complexity.
He is a trusted adviser to boards and senior leadership teams of companies and professional services firms, particularly in moments of pressure, transition or uncertainty. Andrew is known for his calm judgement, clarity of thought and ability to align divergent stakeholder interests.
Andrew combines deep technical expertise with seasoned board-level leadership. He has advised boards on matters involving shareholders, lenders, governments and private capital investors, guiding decision-makers toward durable outcomes that balance governance, stability and value preservation.
Drawing on senior leadership roles within an elite global law firm partnership, Andrew brings first-hand insight into the cultural, economic and governance realities of professional partnerships. He is particularly effective where boards require steady leadership, rigorous governance and clear judgement in complex or sensitive situations.
Andrew spent over two decades as a senior partner at a leading global law firm, holding senior leadership roles including Co-Head of the global banking practice and Managing Partner of a major European office. He led large, complex teams with full P&L responsibility and deep involvement in partnership governance, compensation frameworks and strategic transformation.
Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking and capital markets, giving him a commercially grounded perspective that bridges legal, financial and strategic considerations.
Andrew was previously admitted to practise law in Australia and England & Wales, holds degrees in Law and Commerce, completed executive leadership education at Harvard Law School, and is fluent in Dutch.
